Traction and MRL Elevators
A traction elevator is designed for traditional buildings and the general public. Traction MRLs eliminate problems associated with hydraulic equipment, such as noise, soil corrosion, and smell.
A machine room less (MRL) elevator is a type of traction elevator that doesn't require a machine room. MRL elevators save space by installing the machinery in the lift shaft or on the landings. The machine sits in the override space and is accessed from the top of the elevator cab when maintenance or repairs are required. MRL drives are powered by AC current and use a permanent-magnetic synchronous motor which provides lower energy consumption over traditional traction motors.
